Swaps

STF is going to be filled with watching and learning from some amazing tellers. These Story Swaps are your opportunity to tell! Below are the different Swap oppertunities at STF and their themes:

Friday- 8:45-10:30 PM

Participation Tales for Family Audiences - Mike Lockett

Do you have a participation story that works well with family audiences?  Is there a story that you can share to bring joy to your listeners? Do you have a song? Or chant? Or rhythm? Or line that draws your audience in? Get your story polished up, and come share it at the Sharing the Fire Swap!

Stories That Suspend Disbelief - Barbara Aliprantis, Joe Doolittle, Jim Hawkins

Our lives are often affected by unexpected occurrences, near misses, miracles perhaps.. Invariably when folks look back and reflect, these events have changed their lives. A philosopher once remarked: “Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous”. Join us and share experiences. Personal stories and Folktales Welcome!

Saturday- 9:00-10:30 PM

Close Encounters of the Natural Kind - Jackson Gilman

Our love of nature is often sparked by a memorable incident; perhaps a dramatic encounter, or a profound pastoral experience. Offering a forum for everyone to share a peak moment often has a ripple effect, reminds us of our interconnectedness, and perhaps even re-informs the teller.

Leather Bound Journeys - Short Tales - Quinn Golden

Storytellers need a stash of 1 to 2 minute stories that can be shared on an impromptu occasion. Perhaps a filler at a time slot, or when one is an emcee of an event. Let’s get together and discuss the value of two minute tales, share a few, and share resources for them.

Rhyming Tales - Bruce Marcus

Rhymers unite; this is your night!  Rhyming narratives - known in some corners of the globe as recitations - can be widely popular, wonderfully comic, dazzling clever and highly entertaining.  Come share that favorite audience-pleasing original or classic rhyming story or poem you endeavored to memorize back in high school, during the pandemic, last week or whenever!  And yes, you may use a cheat sheet, if you must, in order to join in the fun!
