Part-time Bookkeeper, Northeast Storytelling (NEST)
Job Description
Northeast Storytelling (NEST) seeks to contract with a part-time Bookkeeper. We are a membership-based nonprofit organization that provides education, advocacy, opportunities, and support to storytellers, story listeners, and story lovers throughout the Northeast.
The Bookkeeper will work with the NEST Administrator.
Key Responsibilities
- Use accounting software to maintain accounts payable and receivable, write checks, and make regular bank deposits. (NEST currently uses Quickbooks and NeonPay.)
- Maintain on-going communication with the Administrator and the Board Treasurer. Reconcile accounts. Interface with Administrator to create reports for monthly Board meetings.
- Ensure that governmental taxes and reports are filed as required
Requirements
- Strong bookkeeping/accounting skills, knowledge of QuickBooks preferred,
- Computer skills and ability to learn NeonPay.
- Minimum 2 years work experience with non-profit organizations.
Salary
- Remuneration: $30/hour for a maximum of $2,600 annually.
- Hours of work required: An annual average of approximately 5 hours a month. However, the number of hours per month varies widely during the year as the March regional conference requires significantly more investment of time from February through April, as conference-related activities pick up.
- Expenses: NEST does not pay for home Internet service, car expenses, gas or mileage during the year.
