About our Hosts for November 27th

Heather Forest, PhD, is an award-winning storyteller, author, musician, and organic farmer. A pioneer in the American storytelling renaissance, she has appeared in theatres, schools, literature conferences, and major storytelling festivals throughout the United States and abroad since 1975. A modern-day bard, her dynamic fusion of original music, poetry, and the sung and spoken word brings multicultural folktales to life in the imagination of her listeners. She is a recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award presented by the National Storytelling Network for her performance skill and the 2021 Talking Leaves Award for her contributions to storytelling literature. An author of seven folktale recordings and ten folktale books, her published work has earned an American Library Association Notable Record Award, two Parent’s Choice Gold Awards, and five Storytelling World Honor Awards. Her musical monologue EARTHSONG won Best Composer in the 2021 United Solo Festival off Broadway. She views storytelling as both a fine art and a powerful tool for positive social change.

Megan Wells is an award-winning and nationally respected storyteller, historical impersonator, actress and theater director. This extensive experience has allowed Megan to develop a vast repertoire of engaging stories, including traditional tales, multicultural myths, historical retellings, literary and personal stories. She holds an ORACLE Award with the National Storytelling Network as a Circle of Excellence recipient. Her theater awards include a Jeff Award for Direction as well as a 2020 nomination for solo performance. As the writer and storyteller for the Chicago Symphony’s Once Upon a Symphony program, Megan helped create an outreach program connecting children with classical music which included a fresh version of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling performed with Yo-Yo Ma. Regardless of the story she’s telling, the character she is portraying or the play she is directing, Megan’s passion and energy bring narrative to life in ways that deeply inspire our human potential.
